As an owner and breeder of Yorkies, who occasionally offers yorkshire terrier puppies for sale, I can offer advice on dental care for your Yorkie. Your Yorkie’s teeth are very important. Your puppy’s temporary teeth fall out easily and are often not found. Sometimes the dog swallows them. This will not hurt your yorkie pup.On rare occasion, temporary teeth may remain along-side the adult teeth and may need to be extracted in order to prevent misplacement and decay of the adult teeth. If your yorkie will be spayed or neutered this would be a great time to take out any remaining puppy teeth, if need be. Give your yorkie puppy safe chew toys during the teething phases. We recommend starting dental hygiene on your yorkie puppies at an early age. There are many products that are available, even a toothpaste that is chicken flavored!
You can find this at Amazon.com. You can purchase a small brush that slips over your finger and makes cleaning your yorkie pup’s teeth very easy. Some people just use a piece of gauze or a washcloth and wipe the teeth daily. This will be an important step in keeping your yorkie puppy’s teeth healthy. As your yorkie puppy matures to an adult, your veterinarian will let you know when it is a good time to schedule a dental cleaning appointment.
