As a caring and compassionate yorkie breeder who occasionally offers yorkie puppies for sale, I would like to offer advice on the use of a harness for your yorkie. It is very important that when you are walking your yorkie on a leash that you utilize a harness instead of a collar. It is well known that collar use with a leash can cause many problems to yorkies and small breed dogs. One problem in particular is tracheal collapse. Click Here To Continue Reading
Separation Anxiety in Yorkie Puppies
Separation anxiety can occur in your puppy when it leaves his mother and littermates and goes to his new home. This is completely normal. Bringing your new puppy home is an exciting time for you, but it can also be a frightening time of adjustment for your new puppy. The puppy feels lost and alone as it is leaving the security of his mother and littermates. The pup is experiencing a multitude of new sights, sounds and smells. You may find it is worse at night, with the puppy crying or howling. It misses its mother and siblings! The puppy may call, cry, howl, to the others as if to say “Come and get me.” He’s waiting for one of the pack to answer. When they don’t, he tries again. You’ll notice that the first night is the worst. During the day your puppy may either be a little nervous of you, or it may follow you right away. Click Here To Continue Reading
Grooming Your Yorkie
Grooming your yorkie can be done at home by you or at a professional grooming salon. You can bath your dog at home and dry your pup by using a hand-held hairdryer on low heat, along with a pin brush. When bathing your yorkie, take care not to rub the shampoo/conditioner in all directions over the dog’s hair as this will cause knots and mats. When you shampoo your pup, just lather up the shampoo in your hands then soap him by rubbing in one direction only, rubbing downward. I do the same thing when conditioning a dog. Let the pup shake off access water then towel dry by blotting and rubbing downward in one direction only.Click Here To Continue Reading
